Cat Purdom

Cat Purdom, an art director in Nashville, Tennessee, specializes in the design and production of consumer package design. In the early 1980s, she obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree in commercial art, establishing herself in corporate America. Shortly thereafter, Cat came out as a lesbian, feeling the first of many callings to balance the corporate world with activism in various social justice issues. She designed the first T-shirt for the Gay Pride Committee in Nashville, Tennessee, in the late 1980s. She cuddled sick babies at Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital (Tennessee) in the 1990s. She represented the Tennessee Equality Project as outreach chair and board member in the 2000s. She supported “parents and friends of lesbians and gays,” known as PFLAG, in Nashville, Tennessee in the 2010s. Currently, she is training to be a hotline crisis counselor for The Trevor Project, a national, 24-hour, suicide prevention service for LGBTQ youth.

Cat Purdom is a morning person, cat person, estate-sale explorer, and recovering extrovert. She enjoys “Morning Pages” journaling, quiet meditation, keeping company with delightful women, and deep conversations about spirituality and personal growth. She balances seriousness with quiet time with Mother Nature on long walks and in her yard, tending her native, flower gardens and neighborhood wildlife.
