Carole de Bra Powell

Carole de Bra Powell, born in 1946, was raised in Pensacola, Florida. She attended the University of Florida before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1970. There she worked in advertising while doing various kinds of activism, including starting Womankind Books in 1977.
For 10 years she worked for FEMA as a mediator. She has since retired and spends her time in Navarre Beach, Florida, and Frederick, Maryland. She lives with her wife of 26 years, Nancy Smouse.
