Gail Reeder, a Brasso brat, the daughter of soldiers, grew up everywhere. She returned to the South following familial feet to rural North Carolina. She was a grassroots organizer for racial equality; and writer of antiwar and feminist articles for the Quicksilver Times, Southern Voice, and other alternative publications.
